I'm a Permaculturist/Permaculturalist - Backyard Food Production Permaculture Gardens

Why I Choose To Be A Permaculturist/ Permaculturalist?
Permaculture is a practical concept applicable from a city balcony to a country farm, enabling us to establish productive environments providing our food, energy, shelter, material and non-material needs, as well as the social and economic infrastructures that will support them.
The overall aim of Permaculture is to create long term sustainability of food production by utilising permaculture principles in various design systems for human settlements that are ecologically sound and economically viable.
From a philosophy of co-operation with nature and each other, of caring for the earth and people, it presents an approach to designing environments which have the diversity, stability and resilience of natural ecosystems, to regenerate damaged land and preserve environments which are still intact.
Permaculturists or Permaculturalists - What's In A Name?
People active in Permaculture (aka Permaculturists/Permaculturalists) gain daily insight into their impact on the environment.
By growing their own food and eating fresh seasonal produce they have a heightened awareness of nature.
Permaculturists/Permaculturalists respect that they are part of a local community.
They share their surpluses with fellow community members and where possible support local businesses and by doing so we reduce our environment footprint on the earth.
Permaculture is a productive and responsible lifestyle and culture.
Permaculturists/Permaculturalists design and build multifunctional food forests that encourages the individual to be resourceful and self reliant and to become a conscious part of the solution to the many problems which face us, both locally and globally.
By encouraging "seed-saving" of self-seeding annuals and perennials we reduce the "food-miles" and enjoy eating fresh, nutrious, non-hybrid varities of fruit, vegetables and herbs.
Permaculture aims to create systems that will sustain not only for the present but for future generations.
I'm a Permaculturist/Permaculturalist because I choose to participate in being part of a global solution rather than part of the problem.

I found Permaculture whilst going through a real low patch in my life. I was living with constant chronic pain and no one in the medical fraternity had any answers as to why I was in such pain.
Being an Aussie I had heard about Permaculture and decided to investigate it further. Well my hobby soon became my life and now its my (and my husband's) livlihood.
Long live Permaculture and Permaculturists / Permaculturalists! :-)
