Revenue sharing websites are very popular because it allows the HubPage article writer to be able to focus on article writing rather than managing their ad campaigns and/or web traffic generation.
One of the benefits of such revenue sharing websites is that they take the monotony out of making and maintaining your own web site/s and/or landing page/s.

WHAT IS REVENUE SHARING?
Websites that will allow you to make money with them are called revenue sharing websites.
Revenue sharing websites make their money through the placement of online advertisements on their website such as Google Adsense ads.
There are many different types of revenue sharing websites and I will list just a few of them below. You will be paid from 100% down to 50% revenue from the ads displayed.
It is advisable that before you sign up and start writing for a revenue sharing website that you do some research and find out what the percentage of revenue that they will be paying you is first.
To make a decent amount of money with these revenue sharing websites, it is important to keep writing and submitting new HubPage articles or other articles that you have written yourself to them on a regular basis.
The more you write the more chances you have of an interested reader seeing your ads and clicking on them. While some clicks may only be worth 5 or 10 cents, others can be worth 5 or 10 dollars.
Try researching good keywords to use, especially in your article title as it will be this alone that tempts the reader to click on your article in the first place.
The advertisements that are placed on your page for readers to click on will usually depend on what you are writing about in your HubPage articles.
Some revenue sharing websites will not permit you to just upload existing articles and will ask for unique content so make sure that you read each websites rules and regulations beforehand.

The list above is just a very small sample of revenue sharing websites that you will find online so do a Google search and you will find a whole lot more that you can sign up to and be earning even more dollars.
Remember that not all revenue sharing websites pay out the same percentage rate of revenue earned and as with most things in life, each revenue sharing website will have its own set of rules and article posting guidelines to follow.
Make sure you read everything on these sites thoroughly before signing up so that you understand exactly what you can and cannot do.
Also remember that clicking on your own Adsense advertisements or Affiliate linked-advertisements will get you banned and will therefore restrict your money making capacity and you will have to find alternative means to promote your HubPages articles.
Do the right thing and follow the rules and you will be making money in your sleep!

Thanks for a great hub, however, I'm looking to research driving traffic to my hubs deeper. I need to know exactly how this works(article marketing). I write a hub, then to direct traffic to it, do I place that same hub on other sites as well, or do I write a similar article linking to the original hub. I was just hoping that someone could explain this in a little more detail. Every article that I read on the subject is a bit vague in this aspect. Thanks for your comment. No need to 'excuse a noob' as I am a relative noob myself.
The majority will not let you repost the exact same article so what you are asking is correct. Some offer a 'bookmark' facility where all you need to do is write a short review or summary of the original article that you will be linking back to.
If you sign up and become an Amazon Associate you can display the Amazon ads on your webpage and every time someone reading your article clicks on an ad they are taken to amazon.com and if they buy the item then you get a % of the sale as affiliate commission.
It is a good way to monetise your HubPages especially if you can see yourself writing quite a few articles.
I am very much still in the trial and error mode when it comes to internet/article marketing but there are plenty of excellent Hub articles in the help section that may be able to shed some more light on this topic.

Thanks for this information Ursula. I've just passed the 10 hubs point (will post #12 later today), and so far I'm just on Hubpages. I know I have to make other connections to get things going. Excuse a noob- we don't repost the same article on shetoldme, right? Would a good example be I write an article about Jane Austen's life on shetoldme, then a hub with reviews of Jane Austen's novels on Hubpages, and link them? The books you posted look really interesting. If I got an account with Amazon, would I then get paid when people click on the books i include in my hubs with the Amazon capsule?

First up I must apologise for not replying sooner. The 'revenue sharing websites' will not allow the exact same copy of any Hub Article to be posted on their sites. It must be a summary or summarised version of your hub article or article that you wish to promote and direct traffic to.
Article marketing is simply about writing lots and lots of similar worded (but not exactly the same) articles in different websites, blogs, forums, landing pages, free-webpages, free-blogs, etc and linking one to the other to the other etc.
I will send you a email of the names/emails of a few people who I have used to help me get started.
