What Is The Frugality Theory

The Frugality Theory - 'Live below your means whatever they may be' - in other words 'spend less than you earn, live simply and get the best value from life'.

When times are hard we have to fall back on our own resources, lead a simple life and make the best of every situation.

Frugality is canny, it means paying your own way and not spending a dollar unless you have a dollar to spend.

It is an old-fashioned virtue which has been waiting in limbo for 'hard times' to return.

Everyone is capable of consuming less, changing wasteful ways/habits and producing more for themselves and by doing so they will reap the rewards of satisfaction, self-respect and help the planet as well.

Frugal Living

Frugal living is not a new concept but it is considered to be time-worn, sensible and beneficial for all those who participate.

A frugal person is someone who is economical in the use of resources and money, prudent, cautious, canny, careful and is always looking for for value in everything they encounter. He or she is not mean, nor austere, nor stingy, nor a miser, nor a skinflint.

Living frugally is a new way of looking at things.

If you are surviving on unemployment benefts or a pension or wondering just how you are going to make ends meet and pay off the utility bills that you are accruing, you will have found yourself already cutting down your expenses out of necessity not want and by doing so you are adopting the principles of frugality.

If you are willing to live a frugal lifestyle you make a conscious decision to separate your needs from your wants, you know when you have had enough and you become as self-reliant as possible.

This is an achievement in itself as you wean yourself from being 'a slave to the mass economy' and learn to take control of your own personal economy, in other words you are now investing in yourself and your ability to keep more coming in than what is going out and still enjoy the simple pleasures that life offers.

If you have a sense of purpose with simple goals to achieve and a direction in which to aim then you have a philosophy on which to build your life.

There will be something positive each day as a result of your desire to say, consciously ... "I want less".

Living Frugally

It is impossible of course to opt out of our society completely.

You are not rejecting 'the system' or saying 'I don't want your capitalism' but rather you continue to take part at a level that you decide you are happy with, albeit legally and morally - you can be as selective as you want.

People who live a frugal life tend to find that their life may be somewhat outwardly simple but it will always be inwardly rich.

After your needs are met, the gains will be living a cultured, intelligent, busy life full of innovation and satisfaction but don't just take my word for it (I am already doing it), try it for yourself!

Boy do we think alike! Frugal Living allows me to better appreciate all that I have and more. When I look back at a time when I made some serious dollars, I realize that there was much I took for granted. Now there is value in everything I see touch and hold. Great Hub!
