Elliptical Trainers - The Exercise Machine For People Who Live With Pain
67An Elliptical Cross Trainer Machine Is Just What The Doctor Ordered!
If like me, you find it increasingly difficult just getting out of bed in the morning because you are experiencing pain, then I would definitely imagine you as I did cringing at the very thought of doing any form of exercise, let alone working out for your health's sake.
Luckily for pain-sufferers like you and me there are exercise machines such as the elliptical trainer that have been designed to help us maintain our health and fitness levels and not miss out on the important task of keeping our bodies fit and healthy.
We need to be able to make pain our friend and not our enemy (I know what you are thinking ... easier said than done right ... trust me, I have been there and done that!).
One very important lesson that I have taken on-board from the many years of coping with pain and seeking medical advice is the absolute need to maintain good health and a healthy weight.
I am not talking about everyone having to look like catwalk models either (I happen to like my curves even if they come with the odd lump and bump), no, I am talking about us not needing to carry around excess baggage/weight which will inevitably burden us in the form of increased pain.
On the days when it is absolutely not possible for me to venture outside for a walk I just hop on my elliptical trainer and exercise at the level that I can cope with - happy knowing that I have at least done something.
The saying "No Pain No Gain" usually comes to mind but I am also very aware of my personal limitations and will not push it to incur further pain and/or injury.
My theory is that I am better off doing some for of exercise even at a slower rate than none at all.
Benefits of Using a Elliptical Cross Trainer Machine
Most people know what an elliptical trainer machine looks like but they do not really understand exactly what it does and what benefits it has to offer (especially someone experiencing pain).
An elliptical trainer machine has many benefits that can cater to any person and any fitness level.
One major benefit of an elliptical trainer is that they offer a very low impact method of exercise/training.
Low impact basically means that you have the lowest risk of obtaining an injury from using the elliptical trainer machine for your workouts.
Elliptical trainers have been designed to allow for a natural, fluid motion to take place when you use them so that when you are using one, you will feel as if you are going through the motions of walking.
A elliptical trainer also does not require you to perform any type of strenuous exercises or have a high strength requirement in order for you to use the machine.
Elliptical trainers are becoming more popular than the good ol' treadmill simply because they are a lot easier on your joints.
One reason that they are easier on your joints is because your feet do not actually leave the “pedals” so there is no real impact on your body whilst you are using an elliptical trainer machine.
An additional bonus is that you do not have to worry about injuring yourself should you slip and/or get shot backwards by a treadmill belt when using a treadmill.
You can have any muscular skill level and still reap the benefits of an elliptical trainer. This is what makes an elliptical trainer a versatile workout machine for all body types and age groups and especially beneficial for people experiencing pain. No more excuses!!!
A elliptical trainer also provides cardiovascular and weight loss benefits. It can be used by your entire household to help everyone maintain good health and fitness.
A elliptical trainer is proven to strengthen your heart over continual use which reduces your chances of having heart problems such as a heart attack, heart disease and stroke in the future.
In addition to maintaining a healthy heart, you will also increase your metabolism rate, enabling you to burn off fat calories much quicker than usual, thus preventing weight gain and promoting weight loss throughout your body.
Daily use of a elliptical trainer will help you to tone muscles such as your back, arms, legs and stomach.
Another major benefit of an elliptical trainer is the time you can save by using this machine because you can eliminate the need to not only go to a gym to work out but you will also eliminate the time, money and effort required of you to join a gym.
If your budget permits there is no reason for you not to have an elliptical trainer in your own home or alternatively you could always hire/rent one.
This elliptical trainer machine is very convenient to use and it provides a full body workout in less then thirty minutes. It is no wonder that these machines are becoming very popular and are in high demand.
Even those of us whose experience pain on a daily basis will benefit from using a elliptical trainer because it will play a vital role in helping us lead healthier lives through daily exercise. But don't just take my word for it ... go try one out for yourself.

Great hub! It's true that as we age there are definitely more aches and pains to contend with, and you're right, an elliptical trainer is a good way to get exercise with less pain. Voted up!

Thanks for your comment Gigi.
Exercise will release the 'happy endorphins' which will help to alleviate the level of pain that we are experiencing without reverting to popping chemical-based medication. (so my Doctor keeps telling me!) :-)
