Pet Therapy Using Nutritional Supplementation To Aid Healing

You do not have to be named Einstein to realise that animals can suffer from the types of illnesses, injuries and chronic disease in practically the same way that their human counterparts do.

Any animal's body needs to be able to fight-off infections, neutralise toxins and cope with weakened immune systems that are often hyper-sensitive to the environment in which they live and they should be given the appropriate treatment when symptoms arise.

Nutritional Therapy by means of providing additional nutritional supplementation to your pet's diet is a relatively inexpensive, practical and useful method of health support that a pet owner can easily administer at home.

One major benefit of Animal Nutritional Therapy is that it has can easily be used in conjunction with many other forms of treatment such as complimentary therapies, conventional allopathic medical veterinarian treatments and surgical procedures.

It is often by combining one or more of the different treatments mentioned above that the best healing results can be achieved because you are helping the animal to be able to meet the challenges associated with being ill or injured by assisting it to regain it's health

Just as with their human counterparts, never underestimate an animals ability to heal, it is just that there are times when they need humans to help them by providing the right environment and the tools necessary to aid in their healing.

Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy provides anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant support. It also supplys the nutrients necessary to assist the animal's body to heal.

We can incorporate nutritional therapy with various situations that our pets may face. These include infectious diseases, immune-mediated diseases, degenerative diseases and allergic conditions.

Osteoarthritis as an example -

Osteoarthritis is a condition in which several changes occur to the joint and/or joints and there is a degeneration of the cartilage, excessive bone growth at the edges and changes to the membrane, called the synovial membrane, which surrounds the joint.

The joint fluid that lubricates the joint and helps it to move more smoothly becomes thickened and less effective. These changes to the joint lead to pain and stiffness (just like in humans).

Nutritional supplementation with Glucosamine supports the hyaline cartilage of the joint.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids and Vitamin C help reduce the inflammation associated with this condition.

Grape Seed extract inhibits the action of certain enzymes that destroy the structural components of joints.

Good nutrition via a balanced diet including raw bones will help out with the healing process and supplying additional nutrients will help assist the body in its fight against infections and the management of many diseases and degenerative conditions that our pets are likely to encounter.

Nutritional supplements can be invaluable in assisting the sick or injured animal's journey back to good health but it is recommended that you always consult a Veterinarian, Animal Doctor or Holistic Animal Therapist to help you with an accurate diagnosis of the problem that is requiring supplementation.
